Learning is not a spectator sport.
When I was a young girl, I hated public speaking. I could sing in front of an audience but not talk. Go figure. Over the years, my work demanded speaking skills, so I began to study and to practice...a lot. The most amazing doors opened.
One of my first opportunities was as a TV host. I was trusted with resources and grace to transform a few corporate videos into a stylish current affairs video news magazine that over time was honored with more than a dozen media industry awards and also broadcast on more than 125 California state outlets and several networks including Bay Area PBS. That one open door also afforded me the chance to grow into becoming a trusted writer and producer.
Other opportunities also sprang from that season such as developing media training seminars for public figures and senior executives who needed polished skills so they could shine during a media interview or a professional presentation from in front of the room. I became known as one of the best media trainers in the business.
Since then, I’ve gone on to host, writer, produce, and direct other acclaimed television series, documentaries, web series, and also become and author and speaker. I continue to train those with an important message to help amplify their voice in the public square.
Today, I bring all that versatile, in-the-trenches, proven experience to our work at Highlander Studios, with the same enthusiasm and passion I’ve had over the years.
If knowledge is power, then learning is a superpower.
