Russell Pyle

Co-Founder & CEO

Producer, Set & Lighting Designer

"I've thrived on captivating audiences on all sorts of stages since I was a kid -- from backyard carnival and circus shows to an amazing career that has taken me all over the world. I lean on my skills in media production, editing, set and lighting design to support my passion for storytelling and showmanship. I want audiences to have an experience they will never forget."

A Creative Prodigy

From the early age of 9, while other kids were playing tag or riding bikes, Russell Pyle was busy orchestrating carnival and circus shows that dazzled the entire neighborhood. With a flair for creativity, he transformed his backyard into a realm of wonder, complete with elaborate sets, dazzling lights, and amazing performances.

What set Russell apart wasn't just his knack for design and production; it was his innate love for people and the art of entertainment. He thrived on the energy of a crowd, the joy of bringing smiles to faces, and the thrill of putting on a show.

Versatile Talent in Entertainment

As he grew older, his talents only blossomed further. His skills in media production, editing, set and lighting design became his toolkit for crafting experiences that transcended boundaries. From video to theater, film to theme parks, opera to fashion shows, Russell lent his versatile skills to any project that promised to captivate an audience.

Whether he was weaving a narrative on screen, transforming a stage into a magical realm, or creating immersive experiences for museums and special events, his passion for storytelling and showmanship shone through. Each project was a testament to his boundless creativity and unwavering dedication to his craft.

But perhaps what truly set Russell apart was his ability to infuse every endeavor with a sense of hospitality, warmth, and inclusivity. Just as he had welcomed the neighborhood kids to his backyard circus all those years ago, he welcomed audiences into his world with open arms, inviting them to be a part of something truly extraordinary.

In Russell Pyle's hands, every project became not just a spectacle, but a celebration of the human spirit and the power of imagination. And as he continued to push the boundaries of what was possible in the realm of entertainment, it was clear that the young boy who had once dreamed up carnival wonders was now a force to be reckoned with in the world of show business.

Global Influence and Technical Mastery

Over the years, Russell has designed the lights and/or sets for over 350 productions across California, New York, Florida, and even internationally. His work is consistently described as "adventurous, innovative and technically complex." Russell has taken his talents and global reach to places like Singapore, Turkey, and Japan, as well as all over the U.S. One of his most notable projects was Our Lady Queen of the Angels, a Salute to the LA Bicentennial, which he worked on with the legendary Tony Duquette.

Impact Through Media Production

Russell is also the co-founder and CEO of Highlander Studios, a media production company based in Nashville. Highlander Studios creates television series, documentaries, promo and fundraising videos, provides top-notch AV consulting, and even offers media training and public speaking for executives. The company also produces a mix of high-profile live events including galas, theatrical productions, conferences, and fashion shows, to name a few.

Most recently, Russell handled the sets, lighting, and sound design for the 2024 Christian Women in Media annual conference in Nashville. His live event production expertise brought this high-profile, 3-day symposium with 37 presenters to life so everything behind the scenes ran seamlessly.

Community Engagement and Advocacy

Russell has won two Telly Awards as co-producer and co-director of the acclaimed California Mental Health Initiative video series. This important project shone a light on the struggles of California's homeless population dealing with mental health issues.

For the Los Angeles Public Library system, Russell has directed diverse audiovisual needs - video production, sound and projection design, and technical production for their cultural events at the Mark Taper Auditorium. This oversight included everything from dance recitals to cultural events to celebrity reading series with stars such as Gregory Peck, Vanessa Redgrave and Sally Field.

In Franklin, Tennessee, Russell co-produced the acclaimed documentary Standing in the Gap, which helped launch the Nurse Freedom Network, a coalition of brave healthcare workers standing up for health and healing independent of special interests. He also designed and installed a massive, 8-screen LED video wall that was 22 feet wide and 12 feet high in the corporate lobby of an international client. It created the most dazzling visual experience - a true showcase of his creativity and technical prowess on a large-scale.

Personal Passions

When Russell is not working on this wide range of projects, you can find him exploring his other creative passions. He's an amateur chef who loves entertaining and building community over great food infusing every gathering with the same sense of warmth and hospitality that permeates his professional endeavors. Russell is also a talented wood and stained-glass sculptor, an avid reader, film/television/theater buff, a seasoned hiker, and travel enthusiast with a love for different cultures and cuisines. Big on health and fitness too, Russell is the epitome of knowing how to work hard, play hard and savoring every moment along the way.
